Peter has lived in the same community for much of his life. When the time came for his mother to move into a skilled-nursing facility, Peter continued to live at home, but quickly realized that he needed assistance to ensure his well-being.
That's when he turned to Easterseals Midwest's Community Living Services for support and moved into his own apartment. Our staff was able to offer training and help with tasks including household chores, laundry and medicine management.
"I enjoy living in my own apartment," remarks Peter. "The staff has helped me improve my physical health, while allowing me to be independent and meet new people."
Not only does Peter enjoy making new friends and being active in the community, but he also thrives at his job at Schnucks in St. Louis, and he's an avid sports fan, hosting friends several times a year for Super Bowl and baseball playoffs watch parties.
"Easterseals Midwest is a great place to be," says Peter.
Through our Community Living Services, Easterseals Midwest offers individuals with developmental disabilities, like Peter, opportunities to lead productive and fulfilling lives. With the support of our staff, those we serve can continue achieving greater independence in the community.
